Nature Work

My natural photographs range from locations based in the centre of Derby, to my own back garden.

Something about capturing the essence of Nature has always appealed to me, but I have never taken any of my photographs any further within my own studio modules at University. The images speak for themselves, and tell you more about the location that the image was taken in.

I feel like my images don't need any further editing, with my nature images I never go back and Photoshop them in order to enhance the image further, I let the camera and the natural lighting do that itself.

Markeaton.

Photographed in May, 2017, Markeaton Park serves as a busy location that people visit during the spring and summer seasons in Derby. The grounds themselves are quite large, it serves as a home to many different animals and a lake in the centre of the park. The grounds are covered in beautiful flowers and trees, all that have been there since I was a small child. These photographs where captured in the evening as the sun was setting, a reminder that summer is almost on it's way.

Nutbrook, Winter Work.

Located near my own home, the nutbrook trail is a short way away and is located behind several factories. Captured in the winter of 2017, the trail can be quite dark and intimidating at times, but it makes for some good and dramatic photos. This day was particularly cloudy, which explains the darkness of the overall images, seeing as it was just before Winter, there wasn't much colour to photograph.

Nutbrook, Autumn Work.

My preferred time of year to go down to that area and take great photographs is definitely during the autumn, there is still enough living nature around for you to photograph, whilst there are signs of decay amongst other areas. Some of the plants in the area are rather oddly placed and most are found by accident, for instance, the small group of leaves that are coming straight out of the wall was something that seemed really un-expected for me.

Shipley.

Shipley Park is a great location where you can gain inspiration from the surrounding area. With different footpaths leading to different areas of the park, all with different aspects of nature around them, you can walk off in any direction and find the inspiration that you've been searching for. These images where captured in the summer of 2017, in the height of the scorching weather when the colours really popped and stood out amongst themselves.

Frosty.

Captured in Winter 2016, the series of images that you see where all captured in my own back garden early in the morning whilst the frost was still clearly visible. The series captures the quite and sober effect that Winter has in the morning hours, making the series seem quite peaceful and elegant.
