Watercolour Fluid Art

IMG_8210.JPG

My inspiration for my watercolour work stemmed from my work with coloured inks. The materials behave in similar ways, in which they spread out and bleed into one another, creating streams of colours throughout the work.

The main difference is with the watercolour pieces, is that instead of pooling and creating just a darker colour in that area, The paint within the water settles instead to create these dark and solid patches of colour that stand out amongst the pale areas. Which is one of the aspects that I enjoy about watercolour pieces.

These smaller sections of watercolour paints where used in the backgrounds of a series of drawings produced in the summer of 2018, they give off a relaxing and sobering feel.
