Photomanipulation

Photomanipulation is something that I am fairly new at at the moment, it's a form of creating new images that I want to then transfer over to my screen printing practices within the studios. so at the moment I have somehow managed to accumulate a lot of practice pieces of work that I'll be taking further within the near future.

These pieces of work are all combinations of either 2 or 3 images, taken at different times and within different places, placed on top of one another to create a completely new image to be used within future practices.

I was hoping that I was able to turn these into screen-prints, with many layers. however, due to the transparency of some of them, and how many individual layers for colours I would need, the whole process would be way too lengthy and I wouldn't have time to produce them whilst at university.

some of the very first edits that I created where of me just moving people about and adding them into different images that they originally had nothing to do with.

It begins with isolating the persons figure first, which is relatively easy to do, then add them onto the separate image that you want to put them into. On top of that, I also add a few effects to the pieces, just to see what would happen with certain filters and settings.

These practice pieces where made when I was deciding as to which direction my work should go towards within my third year at university, I wanted to try and work with something a little bit different from all of the work I had previously created involving people, and this was one of the ideas that came to mind. These images would of been transferred onto a screen In multiple layers and then turned into a finished screen print piece.

These images area collection of photographs and layers of colour. A base layer of flowers, or nature themed images, an overlay of a certain colour that matches the image, and then the final layers which are all images of Birmingham city.
The overall process for these images are quite simple, but the work gave me new ideas as to what I should do with my printwork in my last year of university.

These edits that included several objects where created when I was still brain storming before my third year of university, I came up with these when I was messing around with the idea of photographing objects and using those in some form of print. The only issue was that I couldn't think of anything to go in the background of those edits, which is why these test pieces where created.
